Every year, LDS Church member Ed Kellogg gets dressed up in his red fireman's shirt and helps pull a hand-pumper fire wagon in the Lexington, Mass., Patriots' Day parade. The parade is one of many events commemorating the Revolutionary War's first skirmish on April 19, 1775, on Lexington's Battle Green.
It was here that 75 Minutemen - local farmers who had pledged to be ready at a minute's notice to "support the common cause" - gathered under the direction of Captain John Parker and faced British troops.See page 5 for more about how citizens of Lexington remember that "Glorious Morning for America."
