'When you feel thankful, you feel warm and happy'

I have not had a lot of experiences, but I have had enough to know that the Church is true and to believe all the things my teachers and parents tell me. The experiences I have had have been really neat, and I would like to share them with you.

One was when I fasted. Fasting is really hard for me because I have a big appetite. My parents let me fast as long as I feel like I can, and I usually just do one or two meals, but this last time I fasted almost the full fast, and it really helped me believe that Jesus and Heavenly Father are always there when you need them, no matter how many people they have to take care of, even if it's just a little need, like trying to be righteous. I felt really good inside and really wanted to be obedient the rest of the week.Another experience was with prayer. I was really mad at my mom. My sister and I were in a fight, and Mom was angry with us. I didn't feel like it was my fault at all. I went down into my room and prayed. Then I felt a warm feeling in my heart. I wasn't mad anymore and really felt like being good the rest of the day.

One of the biggest experiences in my life happened this spring. Our little town had an earthquake. Very little was damaged even though it was a 5.9 on the Richter scale. Only some little things fell off people's shelves. It was still really scary though. We slept upstairs in sleeping bags for all that week, and the aftershocks would wake you up. I felt like Heavenly Father blessed us with safety. I thanked Heavenly Father and Jesus for blessing us and felt really good. A few Sundays later we had stake conference, and you could feel everyone's thankfulness. There was a great spirit in everyone. When you feel thankful, I think you feel really warm and happy.
