Here's answer to week's question

(From page 2)

Reed Smoot, later an apostle and U.S. senator who eventually became chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, was the first to register at Brigham Young Academy. He was also a member of the academy's first graduating class, and at one time, the only student in its academic department.

He was an untiring champion of the university and in 1926, said: "I can see temple hill covered with the buildings of Brigham Young University and I expect to see the dream verified. Don't think that the institution has stopped growing, for it was founded on faith and shall never cease growing."
