In something of a first for the Church in the British Isles, Elder Kenneth Johnson, president of the Europe North Area, and his wife, Pamela, were recently invited to London's historic Mansion House as special guests of the Lord Mayor of London.
They were received in the Venetian Parlour by the Lord Mayor, Alderman Paul Newell, and his wife, the Lady Mayoress, Penelope Newell. The Newells are planning a visit to California and Utah later this year and had been put in touch with the Church through a relative.Elder and Sister Johnson presented a copy of Our Search for Happiness, Elder M. Russell Ballard's new book, to give them some background information on the beliefs and lifestyle of the Church and its members. Following the meeting, the lady mayoress guided Elder and Sister Johnson on a tour of the prestigious Mansion House.
"They were very gracious in receiving us," said Elder Johnson. "We felt very much at ease and comfortable in their presence."
