Pres. Hunter honored for service on board

President Howard W. Hunter was honored Sept. 12 for 50 years service on the Board of the Watson Land Company, a national developer of industrial centers.

At a luncheon in his honor in Los Angeles, Calif., President Hunter was presented with a trophy commemorating his half century of service by William T. Huston, chairman of the board.President Hunter was elected to the board in 1944 when he was a 36-year-old attorney who had done legal work for the Watson Land Company. At that time, the family-owned company, whose holdings in the South Bay area derive from the first Spanish Land Grant more than 200 years ago, was still primarily in the ranching and farming business. During President Hunter's tenure on the board, Watson Land Company grew into the largest developer of industrial centers in Los Angeles County and one of the largest in the nation.
