Elder Bruce D. Porter, an associate professor of political science at BYU, was sustained to the Second Quorum of the Seventy Saturday morning.
Elder Porter, 42, is a native of Albuquerque, N.M. He graduated from BYU and went on to earn a master's degree and a doctorate from Harvard University. He is a former executive director of the Board for International Broadcasting, and a former research fellow at Harvard. He has also served as an analyst for Northrop Corporation and as a staff member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee.His Church service has included stake president's counselor, stake mission president, bishop, branch president, and missionary. He and his wife, Susan Elizabeth Holland Porter, have four children.
