New stake presidencies

The first stake in Kiribati - composed of three Micronesian coral atoll groups in the central Pacific - has been created. The Tarawa Kiribati Stake, which includes the Bairiki, Betio 1st and 2nd, Bikenibeu, Eita and Teaoraereke wards, and the Bonriki and Moroni branches, has been created by Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve.

In addition, new stakes have been created in Arizona, Kentucky, Utah and Wisconsin.The Chandler Arizona West Stake, which includes the Del Rio 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, Galveston 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and San Marcos wards has been created by Elder Monte J. Brough of the Seventy.

The Paducah Kentucky Stake, which includes the Foxcroft, Fulton, Paducah and Possum Trot wards, and the Harrisburg, Mayfield, Murray and Paris branches, has been created by Elder John K. Carmack of the Seventy.

The Riverton Utah South Stake, which includes the Charing Cross, Golden Meadows, Mindi Meadows, and the Riverton 9th, 11th, 18th and 19th wards, has been created by Elder Alexander B. Morrison of the Seventy.

The Wausau Wisconsin Stake, which includes the Adams-Friendship, Gresham, Marshfield, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids wards, and the Antigo, Rhinelander and Stevens Point branches, has been created by Elder V. Dallas Merrell of the Seventy.

Elsewhere, stakes have been reorganized in Arizona, Idaho and Utah.

CHANDLER ARIZONA WEST STAKE: (Oct. 20, 1996) Created from the Chandler Arizona Stake. President - D. Lynn Jones, 56, optometrist; wife, Kathryn Peterson Jones. Counselors - Raymond S. Heyman, 40, attorney; wife, Diane Curtis Heyman. John C. Ballard, 39, marketing coordinator for Scottsdale Insurance Co.; wife, Sharon Lynn Nemeth Ballard

PADUCAH KENTUCKY STAKE: (Oct. 20, 1996) Created from the Cape Girardeau Missouri, Evansville Indiana and Hopkinsville Kentucky stakes. President - Larry Wayne Watkins, 49, self-employed business and management consultant; wife, Donna Lynn McCutcheon Watkins. Counselors - Frank J. Kocsis III, 49, training and procedures functional manager for Lockheed Martin Utility Services; wife, Georgann Fowler Kocsis. Clarence R. Stinocher, 64, retired from Car-Graph as machinist and foreman; wife, Donna Joanne Barnett Stinocher.

RIVERTON UTAH SOUTH STAKE: (Nov. 3, 1996) Created from the Bluffdale Utah Stake. President - David B. Brown, 46, seminary principal at Bingham High School; wife, Susan Anne Etherington Brown. Counselors - Kay R. Gredge, 48, welding Inspector for PSI; wife, Alice Ament Davidson Gredge. Michael C. Fielden, 45, senior industrial engineer for Raytheon Aircraft Co.; wife, Evon Jensen Fielden.

TARAWA KIRIBATI STAKE: (Aug. 8, 1996) Created from the Kiribati Tarawa District. President - Atunibeia Mote , 34, director of personnel at Moroni High School; wife, Talime Tetapo Mote. Counselors - Levita Lamese, 32, Moroni High School principal; wife, Rose Maeri Levita. Teakai Tune, 31, assistant secretary for Kiribati government; wife, Rena Tioobu Tune.

WAUSAU WISCONSIN STAKE: (Nov. 3, 1996) Created from the Appleton Wisconsin Stake and the Wausau Wisconsin District. President - R. Thomas Growcock, 63, self-employed manufacturing engineer consultant; wife, Nancy Lea Lewis Growcock. Counselors - Patrick D. Pleshek, 35, senior mechanical custodian for Church area office; wife, Heidi Sue Hoffman Pleshek. Ali Khalil Choucair, 45, director and chief of neuro-oncology at Marshfield Clinic; wife, Kathryne Michele Anderson Choucair.
