New mission presidents

Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:

Harold W. Bodon, 59, Joplin 1st Ward, Joplin Missouri Stake; stake director of public affairs; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, branch president, elders quorum president, and Sunday School teacher; French and German professor at Missouri Southern College; received bachelor's degree in French and history from the University of Utah, master's degree in educational administration at California State-Hayward and doctorate in French literature and German linguistics from BYU; born in Stuttgart, Germany, to Heinrich and Lina Louise Dora Bullerdieck Bodon; married Sonja Nelly Zbinden, two children. She is second counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency; former stake Relief Society board member, Relief Society president and spiritual living teacher, Young Women president's counselor, MIA Maid adviser, Primary teacher, and choir director; born in Biel, Switzerland, to Rene Guillaume and Ida Maurer Zwahlen Zbinden.- Hoyt W. Brewster Jr., 57, Brighton 10th Ward, Salt Lake Brighton Stake; stake president's counselor; former LDSAA general board member, member of Church Instructional Development general board, high councilor, bishop and counselor, mission president's counselor, and missionary in the Netherlands Mission; managing director of the Church Priesthood Department; received bachelor's degree in sociology and secondary education from the University of Utah, master's degree in counseling/guidance and religious education from BYU, and doctorate in counseling and educational psychology from the University of Southern California; born in Salt Lake City to Hoyt William and Naomi Smith Brewster; married Judith Thiede, five children. She is a Young Women president's counselor; former stake Primary board member, Relief Society president and teacher, and Primary president and teacher; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Utah.

Fenton L. Broadhead, 46, Rexburg 13th Ward, Rexburg Idaho Center Stake; former stake president's counselor, bishop and counselor, Varsity Scout coach, Primary teacher, and missionary in the Brazil North Mission; professor of economics and assistant wrestling coach at Ricks College; received bachelor's degree in economics and master's degree in educational administration from BYU, and doctorate in educational administration and economics from the University of Idaho; born in Nephi, Utah, to Elmer Robert and Anna Else Rasmussen Broadhead; married Carol Ann Jackson, six children. She is a former Young Women president, Primary president's counselor, Relief Society president's counselor, Relief Society spiritual living teacher and compassionate service leader, ward music coordinator, and Laurel adviser; received associate degree from Snow College and attended Utah Technical College; born in Payson, Utah, to Worthen Dale and Iris Noreen Cooper Jackson.

Benjamin De Hoyos, 42, Anahuac Ward, Monterrey Mexico Anahuac Stake; stake president's counselor; former stake president and counselor, and missionary in the Mexico Hermosillo Mission; Church Educational System associate assistant director in the Mexico North Area; received bachelor's degree in science from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, a teaching certificate from Normal Superior at Puebla Mexico, and a master's degree in business administration from Chapultepec University, Mexico City; born in Monterrey, Mexico, to Alfredo and Sarah Estrada; married Evelia Genesta, six children. She is a visiting teaching coordinator; former stake Relief Society president, Primary president, and Relief Society president; received bachelor's degree from Technological Institute of Sonora; born in Ciudad Obregon, Mexico, to Antonio Guerrero and Elvira Sayas Mendivil Genesta.

Ned L. Mangelson, 62, Monument Park 13th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake; Sunday School teacher; former high councilor, stake mission president, bishop and counselor, high priests group leader's assistant, elders quorum president's counselor, Sunday School president and teacher, organist, and missionary in the Swiss-Austrian Mission; urologist; received bachelor's degree in medical biology from BYU, medical degree from the University of Utah, and did postgraduate residency in urology at UCLA; born in Levan, Utah, to LeGrande and Sarah Reba Poulsen Mangelson; married Ruth Alene Pratt, four children. She is Relief Society spiritual living teacher; former stake Primary board member, Relief Society president and counselor, Relief Society board member, Primary president's counselor and teacher, Primary chorister, and Primary inservice leader; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Utah; born in Hinckley, Utah, to Wilford Franklin and Lyle Cropper Pratt.

Glen L. Markus, 60, Riverton 5th Ward, Riverton Utah Stake; stake patriarch; former regional welfare agent, stake president's counselor, stake Young Men president's counselor, and bishop and counselor; manager for Salt Lake County flood control; born in Midvale, Utah, to Max and Jenny Louise Barben Markus; married Ruth Faye Humes, five children. She is stake Relief Society president's counselor; former stake Relief Society secretary, Relief Society president, Primary teacher and inservice leader, and Young Women adviser; born in Fruitland, Utah, to Willard Ores and Daisy Myrle Condie Humes.

Joseph A. West, 45, Crest Haven Ward, Rexburg Idaho East Stake; bishop; former stake executive secretary, high councilor, ward mission leader, Sunday School teacher, elders quorum secretary, and missionary in the Brazil South Mission; computer system designer; received bachelor's degree in economics and master's degree in business administration from BYU; born in Salt Lake City to Franklin Lorenzo Jr. and Helen Frances Montrose West; married Lani De Hart, nine children. She is Relief Society compassionate service leader; former stake girls camp director, Primary president's counselor, Relief Society teacher, Primary teacher, Beehive teacher, and Cub Scout den leader; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU; born in Payson, Utah, to Louis Kershaw and Virginia McNamara Halladay De Hart.

Grant A. Worth, 53, Corvallis 1st Ward, Corvallis Oregon Stake; stake president's counselor; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president, Scoutmaster, Blazer leader, seminary teacher, and missionary in the Brazilian Mission; president of Verteq Systems Automation; received bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Utah and master's degree in electrical engineering from Washington State University; born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Garr and Adrienne Walker Worth; married Margaret Lucile Ashby, 10 children. She is a visiting teaching coordinator; former stake Young Women president's counselor, stake Primary secretary, Primary president and counselor, Relief Society president, Primary teacher, and seminary teacher; received bachelor's degree in nursing from BYU; born in Delta, Utah, to Orran Thomas and Stella Leona Gardner Ashby.
