Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:
Dennis K. Brown, 50, Piney Creek Ward, Arapahoe Colorado Stake; mission president's counselor; former stake president's counselor, bishop, and missionary in the Franco-Belgian Mission; management consultant; received bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Utah and master's of business administration degree from Northwestern University; born in Salt Lake City to Keith Chapin and Geneva Hortense Burdett Brown; married Kathleen Ann Taylor, five children. She is stake Relief Society president; former Primary president and Young Women president; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City to Elden Virl and Betty Louise Parry Taylor.- Charles H. Cardon, 59, Sunset Heights 7th Ward, Orem Utah Sunset Heights Stake; bishop's counselor; former high councilor, branch president, bishop's counselor, high priests group leader, Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, and missionary in Central America Mission; real estate investor; received bachelor's and master's degrees in business and accounting from BYU and attended the University of Texas-El Paso; born in El Paso, Texas, to Joseph Harold and Mary Johnson Cardon; married Jacquelyn Lee Kozak, 11 children. She is Young Women president's counselor and temple ordinance worker; former stake missionary, Primary president, Young Women president, Relief Society president and counselor, Church service missionary, and missionary in the California Mission; received associate degree from Utah Valley State College, bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology from BYU, and attended the University of Texas-El Paso; born in Los Angeles, Calif., to George Valentine and Frances Lee Evans Kozak.
Gary E. Cox, 58, Wendell 1st Ward, Wendell Idaho Stake; former regional welfare agent, stake president, high councilor, member of stake mission presidency, mission executive secretary, ward mission leader, Scoutmaster, and missionary in the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Mission; retired associate dean at the University of Alaska-Anchorage; received bachelor's degree in geography at BYU and master's degree in public administration at the University of Northern Colorado; born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Jordan Everett and Lois Alma McBroom Cox; married Joyce Stephenson, 10 children. She is a Relief Society board member; former stake music director, Young Women president and counselor, Primary president, seminary teacher, Relief Society president's counselor, Relief Society teacher and compassionate service leader, Young Women teacher, district missionary, and missionary in the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar Mission; received bachelor's degree in physical education and music from BYU and attended the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and the University of Alaska-Anchorage; born in Preston, Idaho, to Loran Kye and Virginia Dorothea Andersen Stephenson.
James M. Fisher, 48, San Diego 7th Ward, San Diego California North Stake; temple ordinance worker and Sunday School teacher; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, branch president, seventy's quorum president, seminary teacher, and missionary in the Brazil North Mission; real estate consultant; received bachelor's and master's degrees in communications from BYU; born in San Diego, Calif., to Milo Homer and Marjorie Howells Fisher; married Mary Catherine Patton, four children. Joe L. Johnson, 50, Bountiful 41st Ward, Bountiful Utah Heights Stake; stake president; former bishop, elders quorum president, Sunday School teacher, and missionary in the Central Atlantic States Mission; insurance consultant; received bachelor's degree in education from Weber State University; born in Tooele, Utah, to Eugene and Freya Christensen Johnson; married LaVon Stout, seven children. Timothy C. Lunt, 61, Garden Park 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Bonneville Stake; high councilor; former stake mission president, bishop's counselor, Young Men president, ward mission leader, high priests group leader, elders quorum president, secretary to the Aaronic Priesthood, deacons quorum adviser, Scoutmaster, and missionary in the Central America Mission; assistant project manager and warehouse support for Jacobsen Construction; received associate degree from Eastern Arizona Junior College and attended the University of Utah; born in Virden, N.M., to Owen and Mary Jane Jones Lunt; married Shirley Arlene Hughes, six children. She is former stake missionary and secretary to mission presidency, Primary president's counselor and teacher, M-Men/Gleaner teacher, nursery leader, teacher development leader, family name extraction coordinator and trainer, Relief Society social relations teacher, and librarian; received bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU and attended Salt Lake Community College; born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Dawson Wayne and Freda Billie Fischer Hughes.
Henry S. Mataalii, 63, Carson 2nd Ward, Torrance California Stake; temple sealer; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop; executive with McStarlite Company; attended the University of Hawaii; born in Pago Pago, American Samoa, to Tifaga Asuega and Siniva Simele Mataalii; married Shirley Faatasi Faifai, three children. Robert J.
