Latter-day Saint women were well-represented at the 61st annual convention of the American Mothers Inc., held in Lincoln, Neb. Attending the April 25-28 event were eight members representing their states as Mothers of the Year and an another 12 as Mothers of Young Children.
Two LDS women received national honors. Carolyn Merrill Shumway of Hawaii was chosen 1996 National Mother of the Year, and Lisa Vail Phillips of North Carolina was named 1996 National Mother of Young Children.
