New stake presidencies

Six new stakes have been organized in Honduras, Nigeria, Philippines, and Samoa, and in New York.

Elder Dennis E. Simmons of the Seventy has created The Benin City Nigeria South Stake, which includes the Adesuwa 1st and 2nd, Esigie, Ikpokpan, Sakponba, and Uwa wards, and the Ekete, Ugborikoko, and Warri branches; and the Lagos Nigeria Stake, which includes the Agege, Festac, Ikeja, Ogba, and Surulere wards, and the Apapa, Egbeda, and Victoria Island, and Yaba branches.The Iloilo Philippines North Stake, which includes the Jaro 1st and 2nd, Lapaz, and Lapuz wards, and the Calinog, Dumangas, Leganes, Passi, and Pototan branches, has been created by Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Seventy.

The Newburgh New York Stake, which includes the Kingston, Middletown, Newburgh 1st, and Poughkeepsie 1st and 2nd wards, and the Liberty, New Paltz, and Newburgh 2nd branches, has been created by President Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve.

The Pago Pago Samoa Mapusaga Stake, which includes the Faleniu 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Mapusaga 1st and 2nd, 3rd, and Mesepa wards, has been created by Elder Eugene E. F. Walter Reid, an area authority.

The Villa Nueva Honduras Stake, which includes the El Mochiot, Las Flores, Morelos, Potrerillos, Victoria, and Villanueva wards, and the Santa Cruz De Yojoa, and Yojoa branches, has been created by Elder William R. Bradford of the Seventy.

Elsewhere, stakes have been reorganized in Brazil, Guatemala, Nigeria, Philippines, and in Idaho, New York, Texas, Utah and Washington.

BENIN CITY NIGERIA SOUTH STAKE: (Mar. 2, 1997) Created from the Benin City Nigeria Stake. President - Godpower Etinosa Uwadiae, 44, principal community development officer for government; wife, Itohan Osazuwa Uwadiae. Counselors - Emmanuel Idemudia, 45, project manager for NoLiz Nigeria Ltd.; wife, Queen Obazee Idemudia. ILOILO PHILIPPINES NORTH STAKE: (Mar. 9, 1997) Created from the Iloilo Philippines Stake and the Pototan Philippines District. President - Eusebio Viloria Sollesta, 47, medical technologist for Western Visayas Medical Center; wife, Maria Danthea Nava Sollesta. Counselors - Amado O. Jacomille, 31, salesman for Metro Drug Distribution Inc.; wife, Maria Biernee Casano Degayo Jacomille. Rovil L. Cayabyab, 27, self-employed businessman; wife, Angelina Lourdes Tvavales Tolentino Cayabyab.

LAGOS NIGERIA STAKE: (Feb. 23, 1997) Created from the Lagos Nigeria Stake. President - Adesina Joshua Olukanni, 40, computer manager for West African Portland Cement; wife, Folashade John Olukanni. NEWBURGH NEW YORK STAKE: (Mar. 2, 1997) Created from the Yorktown New York Stake. President - Gary R. Ricks Jr., 38, treasurer for MiCRUS; wife, Wendi Lee Farber Ricks. Counselors - Norman B. PAGO PAGO SAMOA MAPUSAGA STAKE: (Mar. 9, 1997) Created from the Pago Pago Samoa Central, and Pago Pago Samoa West Stakes. President - Edward M.
