The Primary music leader and accompanist prepare music for opening or closing exercises and sharing time. They have the opportunity to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to children through music. . . .
Music used in the Primary should create a reverent atmosphere that invites the Spirit and should help children learn the gospel and feel the joy that comes through singing. Recognize birthdays and baptisms by singing special songs. Music leaders may use original music occasionally with the approval of local priesthood leaders, but they should not distribute this music beyond the local unit. They may also occasionally use patriotic or holiday songs of the country.- Instructions for Priesthood
