Another eight mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:
Steven Lynn Bates, 51, Manito Ward, Spokane Washington Stake; Young Men president; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, branch president, and missionary in the Western Canadian Mission; dentist; received bachelor's degree in zoology from Washington State University and doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Washington; born in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, to Charles Ray and Erma Irene Bird Bates; married Julia Ann Anglesey, seven children. She is a counselor in the Relief Society presidency; former counselor in stake Primary presidency, stake family history specialist, counselor in Primary presidency, Relief Society and Primary teacher, Cub Scout and nursery leader; attended BYU; born in Rigby, Idaho, to Wendell Owen and Nada Elizabeth Packer Anglesey.- Roger W. Doxey, 63, Monument Park 15th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake; member of Church hosting committee, regional welfare agent, and temple ordinance worker; former high councilor, stake Young Men president, counselor in bishopric, and missionary in the East Central States Mission; president of Doxey-Hatch Medical Center and secretary of Doxey-Layton Company; received bachelor's degree in business from BYU; born in Salt Lake City to Graham Hayes and Leone Blanche Watson Doxey; married Jewell Ainsworth, five children. She is a member of the Church hosting committee, counselor in Relief Society presidency, and temple ordinance worker; former Relief Society president and counselor, Primary president, counselor in Young Women presidency, Relief Society and Primary teacher, Young Women adviser, Junior Sunday School coordinator, and Young Adult leader; received bachelor's degree in education from the University of Utah; born in Richfield, Utah, to Jack Marel and Irene Miller Ainsworth.
W. Ladd Hollist, 50, Timpanogos 2nd Ward, Orem Utah North Stake; branch president at Provo Missionary Training Center; former stake president and counselor, stake executive secretary, bishop, and missionary in Brazil; professor at BYU; received bachelor's degree in political science from Utah State University, and master's degree and doctorate in international relations from the University of Denver; born in Denver, Colo., to William "D" Jr. and Shirley Rosina Grace Penton Hollist; married Marleen Galvez, three children. She is serving with her husband in a branch at the Provo Missionary Training Center; former stake Young Women secretary, stake Primary secretary, Relief Society president, Young Women president and counselor, and Primary teacher; attended Utah State University and Stevens Henager College; born in Ogden, Utah, to Freddie Jr. and Gayla Brown Galvez.
Richard T. Jackson, 50, Rock Canyon Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont South Stake; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop and counselor, Young Men president, and missionary in Brazil; orthopedic surgeon; studied pre-med at BYU, and received doctorate in medicine and degree in orthopedic surgery from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City to Elvon Gee and Mary Ellen Taylor Jackson; married Marianne Hansen, seven children. James R. Michie, 60, Ensign 1st Ward, Salt Lake Ensign Stake; high councilor; former high councilor, stake missionary, bishop and counselor, high priests group leader, Sunday School teacher, and Cub Scout pack master; president of Thompson Michie Associates Inc.; received bachelor's degree in economics from Yale University and attended Stanford Business School; born in Salt Lake City to Lambert Moroni and Mae Christensen Michie; married Nanette Smith, five children.
