Preston England Temple

Location: Temple Way in Hartwood Green, in the Preston suburb of Chorley, Lancashire, next to Junction 8 of the M61 motorway.

Schedule: Opens Thursday, June 11. First session at 7:15 every morning but Sundays, with sessions every 45 minutes until 4:15 p.m. on Mondays, and until 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays.Temple presidency: Ian D. Swanney, president; Percy Terrel, first counselor; and Arthur Gregory, second counselor.

Rooms: Four ordinance rooms and four sealing rooms.

Dimensions: 65,000 square-feet on three levels, with a statue of the Angel Moroni atop 155-foot tower. The building is 102 feet by 175 feet on a 15-acre site.

District: 21 stakes and two districts in northern England, north Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Pertinent facts: Announced April 19, 1992; ground broken June 12, 1994; opened to public May 16-30, 1998; total number of visitors, 123,607; dedicated June 7-10, 1998, by President Gordon B. Hinckley in 15 sessions.
