In his earlier years he was a professional boxer and wrestler and retired as undefeated Southern States heavyweight champion. He served as district mission president, bishop and high councilor. Parents of eight children, they have 27 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

They both served a stake mission and he served as ward choir leader. She enjoyed oil painting, making jewelry and crocheting. She was YWMIA president and a Primary teacher. Married 70 years ago on July 25, 1928, at Drumright, Okla. They lived in Oklahoma until 1946 when they moved to Tonasket, Wash., where they have lived since then. He worked for the county road department, and she worked for the U.S. Post Office. They were baptized members of the Church in 1970, and sealed in the Arizona Temple. Members of the Oroville Ward, Ephrata Washington Stake. Parents of five children, they have 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
