Jason and Ginger Porter, married June 20, 1998, in the Los Angeles Temple, are working to strengthen their new marriage.
Brent A. Barlow, an associate professor in the BYU Family Science Department, said most divorces occur within the first five years of marriage. Seven percent of marriages, he added, don't make it through the first year.He urges young couples, such as Jason and Ginger, to work through the first turbulent years of marriage until they can better navigate the rapids of life.
