The First Presidency announced this week changes in the Presidency of the Seventy.
Elders D. Todd Christofferson, Marlin K. Jensen and David E. Sorensen, who have been serving in the First Quorum of the Seventy, have been called to the Presidency of the Seventy. Released from the presidency are Elders Monte J. Brough, W. Eugene Hansen and Jack H Goaslind. Elder Brough is now serving, as of Aug. 15, as president of the North America Southeast Area. Elders Hansen and Goaslind will be given emeritus status at October general conference.Remaining in the Presidency of the Seventy are Elders L. Aldin Porter, Joe J. Christensen, Harold G. Hillam and Earl C. Tingey.
Elder Porter, 67, has been a member of the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1992. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 4, 1987. He and his wife, Shirley Palmer Porter, are parents of six children.
Elder Christensen, 69, has served in the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1993. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1989, while serving as president of Ricks College. He and his wife, Barbara Kohler Christensen, are parents of six children.
Elder Hillam, 62, was called to the Presidency of the Seventy Aug. 15, 1995. He was sustained to the Second Quorum of the Seventy March 31, 1990, and to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 6, 1991. He and his wife, Carol Lois Rasmussen Hillam, are parents of seven children.
Elder Tingey, 65, has served in the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1996. He was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy Dec. 5, 1990, and sustained April 6, 1991. He and his wife, Joanne Wells Tingey, are parents of four children.
Elder Christofferson, 53, was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 3, 1993. He and his wife, Katherine Jacob Christofferson, are parents of five children.
Elder Jensen, 57, was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1989. He and his wife, Kathleen Bushnell Jensen, are parents of eight children.
Elder Sorensen, 65, was called to the Second Quorum of the Seventy June 6, 1992, and sustained Oct. 3, 1992. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1995. He and his wife, Verla Anderson Sorensen, are parents of seven children.
Elder Brough, 59, was called to the Presidency of the Seventy on Aug. 15, 1993. He has been a member of the Seventy since Oct. 1, 1988, and has served in both the First Quorum and the Second Quorum. He and his wife, Lanette Barker Brough, are parents of seven children.
Elder Hansen, 70, served in the Presidency of the Seventy since Aug. 15, 1993. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 1989. He and his wife, Jeanine Showell Hansen, are parents of six children.
Elder Goaslind, 70, served twice in the Presidency of the Seventy, first from Oct. 6, 1985-Aug. 15, 1987, and again from Aug. 15, 1995, until the present. He was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy Sept. 30, 1978. He and his wife, Gwen Caroline Bradford Goaslind, are parents of six children.
