Jeremiah P. Cahill, 68, Lincoln Heights Ward, Salt Lake Granite Park Stake, called as president of the new Bogota Colombia Temple, which will be dedicated April 24-26, 1999. Pres. Cahill's wife, Lela B. Jackson Cahill, will serve as temple matron.
Pres. Cahill, who is currently serving as executive secretary for the Central America Area presidency and living in Guatemala, served as president of the Peru Trujillo and Colombia Bogota South missions, stake executive secretary, high councilor, stake clerk and bishop. He is a retired director of press relations for the Church, and former Deseret News city editor and sports reporter. He graduated from BYU and served active duty in the U.S. Army and was a captain in the Army Reserve. He was born in Salt Lake City to Earnest Jeremiah and Eva May Simpson Cahill. Sister Cahill is a former stake and ward Primary and Relief Society president, ward Young Women president and gospel doctrine teacher. She attended BYU, Utah State University and the University of Utah. She was born in Salina, Utah, to Raymond Silas and Bertha Kunz Jackson. They are parents of five children.
