The Personal Ancestral File (PAF) 4.0 for Windows for home computers, will be available Feb. 2 in Portuguese, French and German. The PAF in Spanish, announced in December, is already available.
The PAF software for home computers or Family History Centers can be downloaded free of charge through the FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service at www.familysearch.org. The PAF software helps users organize their family history records. It produces automated or manual records for family histories and charts and logs to help users search for names of missing ancestors. This program includes new multimedia features and enhances the more popular features of PAF 3.0, an older DOS-based product.
Compact disc versions of the software will be available for purchase March 1 through Church distribution outlets for U.S. $5 or can be ordered through the FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service. System requirements are: Windows 95/98/NT 4.0-plus, Pentium or equivalent processor, 16 or more megabytes of RAM, 20 megabytes of hard-disk space, VGA monitor with 256-color-capable video card, Internet access to download the program, and 4x CD-ROM or faster.
