"As my eyesight dims somewhat, I think my vision improves — my vision of the long road, my vision of what lies ahead."
It is a marvelous time to be alive and to be a member of God's church.
"Now, after I have been married 70 years, I'm just saying to all of you that it gets better, it gets better year by year, the preciousness, the tenderness and the eternal values that lie ahead for us. To all of you I would say, and Ruby would join with me if she could be here, that life can be wonderful, and so meaningful. But we have to live it in the simple way that we understand it, in living the simple principles of the gospel."
President Hinckley recently told students at Brigham Young University that life is a great chain of generations, link following link until the end of time. He admonished those students not to be a weak link in their eternal family. There is such a responsibility to do the temple work for tens of thousand of people that are part of our own families, waiting on the other side.
Marvelous things are happening in the church today. We are now operating 100 temples. Some of you will live to see the day when there are 200, or perhaps even 300.
"To all of you here this morning, I would hope that you could develop a strong feeling in your own families, and with you personally about not wanting to become a weak link in the chain of your family."
