A monument in Ibapah, located near the Utah/Nevada border in the western desert, about 50 miles west of Wendover, honors those who made historic efforts in the 19th century to provide communication and transportation across the continent.
The monument honors the Goshute Indian Tribe, early LDS settlers in the area, the Deer Creek Pony Express, Overland Stage and Mail Station and the Lincoln Highway. It contains plaques with illustrations.
More than 450 hours of volunteer work, coordinated by Church members, was donated toward the completion of the monument, which was dedicated in 1998.
