Billy Barty, 76, a 3-foot-10-inch screen actor whose career spanned seven decades, died Dec. 23, 2000, in Los Angeles, Calif. A member of the Studio City Ward, North Hollywood California Stake, he was in his first film in 1927 at age 3 and has performed on radio, television and Broadway.
Kay H Clifford, 75, president of the Oakland California Temple, died Dec. 26, 2000, in Salt Lake City. President Clifford was also a former president of the Texas Houston Mission, president of the Redlands California Stake, and bishop of the West Arcadia (Calif.) Ward.
Donovan H. Van Dam, 94, president of the Netherlands Mission from 1952-1956, died Dec. 18, 2000, in Salt Lake City. He was also the first president of the Jordan River Temple, with his wife, Ada, serving as the first matron, from 1980-1985. He was a former high councilor, bishop's counselor, Temple Square guide and assistant to the president of the Salt Lake Temple.
Margaret Hopkinson, 94, member of the Deseret Sunday School General Board from 1952 to 1966, died Dec. 29, 2000, in Salt Lake City. She was also a former Sunday School teacher and an elementary school teacher.
Dale Deloss Rowley, 65, one of the most decorated combat pilots of the Vietnam War, died Nov. 22, 2000, in Tucson, Ariz. Brother Rowley flew 339 missions in Vietnam and was awarded 14 air medals, the Legion of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses and the Silver Star. He was a member of the Solomonville Ward, Safford Arizona Stake.
