New mission presidents

Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Here are their names and biographical information. New mission presidents and their assignments were announced in the March 10 issue.

Annette W. and William B. Mansell

William Blood Mansell, 61, Union 4th Ward, Sandy Utah Cottonwood Creek Stake; will preside over the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission; former school principal in the Granite School District; earned administrative, master's and bachelor's degrees in education from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lawrence William and Esther Lowella Hadlock Mansell. Married Annette Welch; six children. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and taught elementary school; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard Garland and Lucille Andrew Welch.

Samuel D. and Marilyn J. C. Morrison

Samuel David Morrison, 60, Hillcrest 6th Ward, Sandy Utah Hillcrest Stake; will preside over the Brazil Curitiba Mission; was director of career services at the University of Utah; earned bachelor's degree in Portuguese and completed several years of graduate studies at Brigham Young University; born in Nampa, Idaho, to Theodore Eugene and Helen Turner Morrison. Married Marilyn Jean Clunas; four children. She studied elementary education at Portland State and Brigham Young University and worked as a dental assistant; born in Portland, Ore., to Everett Wesley and Lois Jean Ryden Clunas.

Estelle H. and Charles M. Quist

Charles Michael Quist, 59, Elko 4th Ward, Elko Nevada East Stake; will preside over the Indiana Indianapolis Mission; was president and CEO of Western Tire Center; and studied at business trade schools; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Oscar and Gladys Peart Woodbury Quist. Married Estelle Kaye Haws; three children. She earned a nursing degree from Great Basin College and worked in nursing; born in Hayward, Calif., to Harold Brigham Haws and Lillis Jensen Reeves Haws.

Gustavo G. and Leticia M. Ramos

Gustavo Ramos G., 43, Tula Ward, Tula Mexico Stake; will preside over the Mexico Merida Mission; was principal director of Colegio America; earned degree in mathematics from Federation Schools; born in Tuxpan, Mexico, to Raul C. and Teresa Godinez L. de Ramos. Married Leticia Mera M.; five children. She was born in Tula de Allende, Mexico, to Uribe Silvino and Espejel Margarita Monroy de Mera.

Ralph S. and Elizabeth R. Romney

Ralph Steven Romney, 50, Olympus 5th Ward, Salt Lake Olympus Stake; will preside over the Chile Concepcion Mission; managing member of Consulting and Development Services; earned master's of business administration degree and bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ralph Bradford and Patricia Steele Romney. Married Elizabeth Ann Robson, five children. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Utah; born in Ogden, Utah, to Ralph Thayne and Lou Jean Allen Robson.

Aileen R. and Albert Roy

Albert Roy, 60, Glasgow Ward, Glasgow Scotland Stake, will preside over the Canada Edmonton Mission; was manager of road services of the West Dunbartonshire Council; earned civil engineering degree from the Dundee Institute of Art and Technology, later became a chartered engineer; born in Dundee, Scotland, to Albert and Mary Smith Ferguson Scobie Roy. Married Aileen Fraser Ross; four children. She was born in Dundee, Scotland, to George Sudders and Charlotte Watt Fraser Morrison Ross.

Marguerite B. and Morris D. Whitaker

Morris Duane Whitaker, 60, Logan 24th Ward, Logan Utah East Stake; will preside over the Mexico Mexico City East Mission; was director of international programs for Utah State University; earned a doctorate in agriculture from Purdue University and master's and bachelor's degrees in economics from Utah State University; born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Mirl William and Ada Belle Bruesch Whitaker. Married Marguerite Fae Benson; six children. She studied English literature at Utah State University; born in Takoma Park, Md., to Serge Nelson and Elizabeth Ruth Horton Benson.

George A. and Sharon B. Young

George Allen Young, 52, Bell Canyon Ward, Sandy Utah Granite View Stake; will preside over the Taiwan Kaohsiung Mission; was Realtor for Mansell & Associates; earned a master's of business administration from University of Phoenix and a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Utah; born in Tooele, Utah, to James and Mary Ann Jonsson Young. Married Sharon Audrey Bowden; three children. She earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Phoenix; born in Heber City, Utah, to Irvin Oleen and Eva Lavaun Alder Bowden.
