Facts and figures: Winter Quarters Nebraska Temple

Location: 8283 North 34th Street, Omaha, Neb., adjacent to Mormon Pioneer Cemetery and across from Mormon Trail Center at Historic Winter Quarters.

Temple presidency: E. Louis Butler, president; Dennis E. Flynn and Merrill M. Hales, counselors.

Rooms: Celestial room, two ordinances rooms, two sealing rooms, baptistry. Also contains a chapel, offices, dressing rooms and an eating area.

Exterior: Bethel white granite topped by gold-leafed statue of Angel Moroni.

Size: 16,000 square feet on 1.92 acre site.

Architect: Dan Reinhardt of Reinhardt & Associates

Contractor: Lund-Ross Constructors, Inc.

District: Nebraska, Iowa and parts of South Dakota, Kansas and Missouri, comprising some 35,000 Church members.

Pertinent facts: Announced June 14, 1999; groundbreaking Nov. 28, 1999, beginning a 16-month construction period; open house March 30-April 14, 2001, attended by 61,038 people. Dedicated April 22, 2001, by President Gordon B. Hinckley, with 8,005 attending four sessions at or nearby the temple and another 376,375 participating via satellite, according to a partial report.
