Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. One of these, Steven Dale Ogden, has been called as president of the Argentina Cordoba Mission and will begin service Feb. 1, 2002. The other new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1; their assignments will be announced later. The new leaders and their wives are:
Shirli and Leland Anderson

Leland J. Anderson II, 54, Grays Harbor Ward, Elma Washington Stake, retired physician; bachelor's degree from BYU in economics, doctor of medicine degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara and Ob-Gyn studies at Creighton University School of Medicine; born in Caldwell, Idaho, to Leland J. and Anna Marie Jones Anderson. Married Shirli Ann Brownfield, five children.
She received a bachelor's degree in humanities from BYU; born in Boise, Idaho, to William Ellis and Margaret Shaw Brownfield.
Scott and Paula Gardner

L. Scott Gardner, 49, Chase Lane Ward, Centerville Utah North Stake; golf director for North Salt Lake City; received bachelor's degree in business from Weber State University; born in Ogden, Utah, to Lincoln B. and Phyllis Crosby Gardner. Married Paula Adams, six children.
She attended Utah State University and was born in Ogden, Utah, to Ben Elias and Alice Burnett Adams.
