The number of Church members who attend Spanish-speaking wards or branches in the United States has increased dramatically in the past few years.
Approximately 160,000 members attend some 403 wards or branches. Eight stakes are Spanish-speaking as well. Five of these are in California, two in Arizona and two in Florida.
Members in Spanish-speaking wards in the United States live primarily in southern border or coastal states, with 128 wards or branches in California, 49 in Texas, 29 in Arizona, 24 in Florida, 25 in New York, 21 in New Jersey and 11 in Washington. Utah, which has 39 wards and branches, is an exception to this pattern. Other Mountain West states with larger numbers of Spanish-speaking wards or branches are Idaho with 12 and Nevada with 11.
