New temple president

John Jerome Whetten, 67, Juarez 1st Ward, Colonia Juarez Mexico Stake, called as president of the new Asuncion Paraguay Temple, which will be dedicated May 18, 2002. President Whetten's wife, Louise Jorgenson Whetten, will serve as temple matron. President Whetten, a temple sealer, served as president of the Paraguay Asuncion Mission, stake president's counselor, bishop and counselor. A retired principal of Juarez Academy, he is a fruit farmer. He was born in Colonia Dublan, Mexico, to Glen and Ada Judd Whetten.

Sister Whetten is a temple ordinance worker, and former ward Relief Society president, Young Women president and stake Relief Society secretary. She was born in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, to Hyrum and Mary Redd Jorgenson.
