Sister Kathleen H. Hughes biography

Family: Born in Tooele, Utah, to William Daly and Emma Johanson Hurst. Married Dean T. Hughes, three children: Tom (Kristen), Amy Russell (Brad), and Robert (Stacy); five grandchildren.

Church Service:Serving as ward Young Women president at time of call to Relief Society general presidency; former member of Young Women general board, multi-stake public affairs co-director, Primary teacher, counselor in ward Relief Society presidency.

Education: Bachelor's degree in English education from Weber State College (now Weber State University) in 1966, master's degree in special education from Central Missouri State University in 1974.

Professional:Retiring as personnel director in Provo School District (2001-2002); director of associate's program with the Center for the Improvement of Teacher Education and Schooling, under auspices of BYU's Public School Partnership (1997-2001); assistant superintendent in Provo School District (1994-1997); administrator for curriculum and instruction in special education for Provo School District (1992-1994); director of special education (1987-1992); classroom curriculum specialist (1985-1987); teacher instructor (1983-1985); teacher in Utah, Washington and Missouri.
