In memory of the events, both tragic and heroic, of September 11, 2001, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has recorded two songs for use by television and radio news organizations.
The performance, which will be available the last week of August, is offered free of charge to broadcasters and without restrictions. It can be edited to suit the needs of news organizations that choose to use it.
The 360-voice choir performs the first verse of two musical selections, "The Star Spangled Banner," and "America the Beautiful." For television use, the stirring music will be accompanied by video clips of various national historic sites and scenes from U.S. national parks.
"We realize that news organizations around the country will be planning a number of broadcast programs to commemorate 9/11," said Craig Jessop, music director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. "The songs of the choir are a universal language that touch people everywhere and we hope it will be useful to broadcasters to have this music and footage."
