New temple presidents

Alvin George Clawson, 68, Laguna Beach Ward, Laguna Niguel California Stake, called as president of the San Diego California Temple, succeeding President Joe. J. Christensen. President Clawson's wife, Sandra Lou Knox Clawson, will serve as temple matron. President Clawson, a temple sealer, served as stake president and counselor, bishop, regional young adult counselor and Young Men president. He is a retired president and CEO of a food processing corporation and former design engineer in the aerospace industry. He was born in Pasadena, Calif., to Christian and Augusta George Clawson.

Sister Clawson is a former ward Relief Society, Primary and Young Women president, stake Young Women president's counselor and temple ordinance worker. She was born in Upland, Calif., to Arthur and LaVon Evans Knox.

Vaughn J. and Merlene Featherstone

Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone, 71, Crescent 2nd Ward, Sandy Utah Crescent Ridge Stake, called as president of the Logan Utah Temple, succeeding President Max W. Craner. President Featherstone's wife, Merlene Miner Featherstone, will serve as temple matron. President Featherstone, General Authority emeritus, served in the First Quorum of the Seventy from 1976 to 2001, and in the Presiding Bishopric from 1972 to 1976. He served as Young Men general president and on the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America. Before being called as a General Authority, he was corporate training manager for Albertson's Inc. He was born in Stockton, Utah, to Stephen Elvin and Emma Marie Johnson Featherstone.

Sister Featherstone is a former Young Women and Relief Society president, stake Relief Society president's counselor, and served with her husband on multiple assignments. She was born in Ogden, Utah, to James A. and Naomi Duke Miner.

Donovan Roger Feist, 65, Minot 2nd Ward, Bismarck North Dakota Stake, called as president of the Bismarck North Dakota Temple, succeeding President Robert D. Wahlgren. President Feist's wife, Annette Marguerite Kvamme Feist, will serve as temple matron. President Feist served as temple president's counselor, district president and counselor, bishop, elders quorum president and district mission president. He is a retired truck gardener and telephone systems specialist. He was born in Velva, N.D., to Joseph and Ruth Olson Feist.

Sister Feist is a former stake and ward Young Women president, Relief Society and Primary president, and ward music chairman. She was born in Minot, N.D., to Ernest Leander and Agnes Mildred Chilson Kvamme.

Elder Rex D. Pinegar, 71, Mount Olympus 1st Ward, Salt Lake Mount Olympus Stake, called as president of the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple, succeeding President Dee F. Andersen. His wife, Bonnie Lee Crabb Pinegar, will serve as temple matron.

A General Authority emeritus, he was in the Presidency of the Seventy from 1989 to 1995, serving as senior president from 1993 to 1995, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy from 1976 to 2001, and of the First Council of the Seventy from 1972 to 1976. He is a former mission president and counselor in the Young Men general presidency. Before his call as a General Authority, he was chairman of educational psychology at BYU. He was born in Orem, Utah, to John Franklin and Grace Murl Ellis Pinegar.

Sister Pinegar is a former Primary and Young Women president, Relief Society teacher, Cub Scout Den Leader and served with her husband when he presided over two missions. She was born in Escondido, Calif., to Lowell John and Exilda Nielson Crabb.

David William Pennington, 62, Shiloh Ward, Billings Montana Stake, called as president of the Billings Montana Temple, succeeding President Stanley Stott. His wife, Maryan Haymond Pennington, will serve as temple matron. President Pennington served as temple president's counselor, stake president's counselor, district and high councilor and bishop. He is a retired federal manager of Bureau of Indian Affairs, and former chairman of federal teams for negotiation of Indian Water Rights for the Department of Interior. He was born in Springville, Utah, to Edward Eric and Katie Elnora Allrige Pennington.

Sister Pennington is a former early morning seminary teacher, stake Young Women president, Relief Society president and teacher. She was born in Springville, Utah, to Paul M. and Faye Averett Haymond.

Shirley and L. Aldin Porter

Elder L. Aldin Porter, 71, called as president of the Salt Lake Temple, succeeding President W. Eugene Hansen. His wife, Shirley Palmer Porter, will serve as temple matron. President Porter, a General Authority emeritus, is a former senior president of the Seventy, and served in the presidency from 1992 to 2001. He also served in the First Quorum of the Seventy from 1987 to 1989, and from 1991 to 1993, and in the Second Quorum of the Seventy from 1989 to 1991. He served as executive director of the Missionary Department while in the presidency of the Seventy. He is a former mission president, temple president's counselor, stake president and regional representative. He was an executive in a financial planning company before his call as a mission president. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to J. Lloyd and Revon Hayward Porter.

Sister Porter is a former ward and stake Relief Society president, stake Young Women's president, ward Primary president and assistant matron in the Boise Idaho Temple. She was born in Houston, Texas, to Wesley T. and Bertie Decker Palmer.

Newell Kay Richardson, 73, Crestwood Ward, Idaho Falls Idaho Ammon West Stake, called as president of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, succeeding Mark G. Ricks. His wife, Illa Mae Cook Richardson, will serve as temple matron. President Richardson, serving as counselor in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple presidency, is a former mission president, stake president, regional representative, patriarch, senior medical missionary, and bishop. He is a retired physician who specialized in radiology. He was born in Thatcher, Ariz., to Edmund Wilford and Effie May Lee Richardson.

Sister Richardson, assistant matron in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, is a former Young Women and Relief Society president, teacher, accompanist and served with her husband on a medical mission. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Frank and Anna Haroldsen Cook.
