'Savior of the World' presented during Easter

The sacred music drama "Savior of the World" will be presented again at the Conference Center Theater during the Easter season. Tickets go on sale Feb. 11 at 10 a.m.

"The production has been very popular with audiences throughout the Wasatch Front," said Stephen Hall, supervisor of administrative services for the theater. "We are pleased to once again make tickets available through the Church's Web site." To date, more than 150 performances of "Savior of the World" have been presented to approximately 125,000 people.

The two-act presentation dramatizes the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ. By closely reflecting scriptural accounts, the production has been appreciated by Christians of many faiths. "Above all, the purpose of this production is to testify of Jesus Christ," said David Warner, director of Music and Performing Arts.

The cast features more than 90 members of the Church, including some with credits in professional film, television and Broadway touring productions. Joy Gardner, a lead in the Church's film "The Testaments of One Fold and One Shepherd," will share the role of Mary with Sarah Wright. "Performing in 'Savior of the World' has and will continue to be a very healing experience in my life," she said. "It has given me the opportunity to come closer to the Savior and His teachings and to remember that He lives today."

Tickets can be purchased through www.lds.org, in person at the Conference Center Ticket Office (Door 4), and by telephone at 240-0080 or toll free at 866-537-8457 (866-LDS-TIKS). Evening performances are $7; matinee performances are $4.

Performances will run Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. from March 14 to April 19. Matinees are scheduled on Saturdays at 2 p.m. (There will be no performances April 5.) Children ages 8 and older are welcome at all performances.
