'Storybook Park' construction

BURLEY, Idaho — The efforts of a group of LDS young mothers paid off here recently with the construction of a "Storybook Park." The five-day construction, May 13-17, included some 2,000 volunteers of all ages and skills and followed a fund-raising effort led by the mothers that raised $125,000 from local individuals and businesses. The park includes playground equipment in the shape of boats and castles. It also includes games such as tick-tack-toe built into the equipment. A ribbon-cutting ceremony May 17 was attended by hundreds, including Mayor Jon Anderson.

"We had some happy kids," said Janet Hansen, chairwoman of the volunteer committee and the Relief Society president of the Burley 9th Ward. "The community response was overwhelming."
