Four-day conference

DORTMUND, Germany — Thirty-seven young women of the Dortmund Germany Stake and their leaders traveled a half-day's journey to Zoetermeer, Netherlands, for a four-day Young Women conference May 28-31.

Along the way, they sang, "For the Strength of Youth," which was their motto.

In the beauty of the thick forests, the young women participated in workshops and games, highlighted by a two-kilometer hike. While walking, they suddenly came upon The Hague Netherlands Temple. They stood in reverence, admiring the building and contemplating the eternal importance of marrying there. They sang, "Immer and Ewig Vereint," — "Always and Eternally United."

For several who have been members for less than half a year, seeing the temple was especially impressive.

The next day the young women were given copies of the Family Proclamation in Dutch. The difference in languages caused several humorous moments but, mostly, the experience was spiritual. Around the campfire that night songs were sung and friendships were improved. Several visited the temple a second time.

The conference closed with a testimony meeting during which they encouraged each other to not stand still but move forward in the gospel.

Bonnie Dietrich, 17, of the Hagen Ward, expressed hope that the influence of the conference would linger in memory.
