New temple presidents

The First Presidency has announced the calls of six new temple presidents:

Allan Howard Barker, 76, Monument Park 13th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake; called as president of the Boston Massachusetts Temple; succeeding President Bruce F. Sorensen. President Barker's wife, Joanne Gardner Barker, will serve as temple matron. President Barker is a former temple president's counselor, stake Sunday School president, bishop, high priests group leader and public affairs chairman. He is a physician. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to A. Howard and Mercy Rachel Barlow Barker.

Sister Barker, who served in a stake Primary presidency, is a former Relief Society president's counselor, Young Women president and counselor and Primary president and counselor. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to LeRoi B. and Thelma Petersen Gardner.

Archie Maynard Brugger, 76, Manti 6th Ward, Manti Utah Stake; called as president of the Manti Utah Temple; succeeding President Jack H. Goaslind Jr., emeritus General Authority. President Brugger's wife, Doreen Barbara Kurr Brugger, will serve as temple matron. President Brugger is a former temple sealer, patriarch, stake president, high councilor and elders quorum president. He is a retired Air Force officer and professor of surgery. He was born in Venice, Utah, to George and Carrie Myrl Buchanan Brugger.

Sister Brugger has served in the stake Relief Society presidency and as stake music chairman. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frederick George and Ellen Elizabeth Mercer Kurr.

Joseph Kent Jolley, 69, Rexburg 11th Ward, Rexburg Idaho Center Stake; called as president of the Sao Paulo Brazil Temple; succeeding President Oswaldo Silva Camargo. President Jolley's wife, Jill Waldram Leishman Jolley, will serve as temple matron. President Jolley of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, is a former mission president, stake president's counselor, stake missionary and bishop. He is an attorney, real estate developer and rancher. He was born in Rexburg, Idaho, to William Afton and Mildred Mangum Jolley.

Sister Jolley, who served with her husband when he was a mission president and in the Seventy, is a former stake Primary president's counselor, ward Relief Society president and counselor. She was born in Boise, Idaho, to Owen Smith and Venese Waldram Leishman.

John Maxwell, 64, Retford Branch, Sheffield England Stake; called as president of the Preston England Temple; succeeding President David Moore Porch. President Maxwell's wife, Elizabeth Sheila Wright Maxwell, will serve as temple matron. President Maxwell is a former Area Authority Seventy, area president's counselor, regional representative and stake president. He is a retired pharmacist. He was born in Dancaster, Yorkshire, England, to Henry and Ada Rooth Maxwell.

Sister Maxwell is a former stake Primary president, Relief Society and Young Women president and seminary teacher. She was born in Dancaster, Yorkshire, England, to Arthur William and Cecily Murray Hobson Wright.

Frank Stillman Moffett, 62, La Verkin 2nd Ward, La Verkin Utah Stake; called as president of the San Jose Costa Rica Temple; succeeding President C. Gary Lunt. President Moffett's wife, Hella-Ingrid Gerlich Moffett, will serve as temple matron. President Moffett is a former temple ordinance worker, secretary to an area presidency, stake clerk, ward clerk and high priests group leader. He is a banker and owns a gift store. He was born in Virden, N.M., to Joseph Franklin and Dessie Clorene Allred Moffett.

Sister Moffett is a former temple ordinance worker, stake name extraction worker, Primary president's counselor and family history consultant. She is a registered nurse. She was born in Odense, Denmark, to Klaus-Gunther Heinz Wilhelm Hermann Brackemann and Liesanna Therese Helene "Hella" Gerlich.

Lynn Stephen Richards Jr., 76, Monument Park 15th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake; called as president of the Bountiful Utah Temple; succeeding President James O. Mason, emeritus General Authority. President Richards' wife, Annette Nibley Richards, will serve as temple matron. President Richards is a former temple sealer and ordinance worker, mission president, Missionary Training Center president and stake president's counselor. He is a surgeon. He was born in San Francisco, Calif., to Lynn Stephen and Lucille Covey Richards.

Sister Richards, a former temple ordinance worker, served with her husband in his assignments as mission president and Missionary Training Center president. She is a former district and ward Primary president. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Preston and Ann Parkinson Nibley.
