Announced: Feb. 16, 1998.

Location: 57 Independence Avenue, Accra; located in a part of town called Ridge.

Presidency: Grant Gunnell, president; Dale Van Horn, first counselor; Leland Jay Housley, second counselor.

Site: 6 acres.

Exterior finish: Granite quarried in Namibia, Africa, called Namibia Pearl.

Temple design: Traditiional, built in third generation of small temples.

Architects: ARUP

Project manager: Russ Tanner

Contractor: Taysec Construction Limited

Number of rooms: Celestial room, two endowment rooms, two sealing rooms and baptistry with font resting on 12 fiberglass oxen.

Total floor area: 17,500 square feet.

Dimensions: 190 feet by 147 feet

District: Countries in western Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Liberia.

Pertinent facts: Announced by President Gordon B. Hinckley at a member meeting in Accra's Independence Square. Ground was broken Nov. 16, 2001. Open house was Dec. 3-20, 2003. Open House attendance: 24,633. Dedicated in three sessions on Jan. 11, 2004, by President Gordon B. Hinckley. Dedication attendance: 5,311.
