David A. Bednar biography

Family: Born June 15, 1952, to Anthony G. Bednar and Lavina Whitney Bednar in San Leandro, Calif.; married Susan Kae Robinson, March 20, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple; children: Eric (Francine Cole), Michael (Charlotte Hintze) and Jeffrey; three granddaughters.

Church Service: Area Authority Seventy, Area Authority, regional representative, stake president (twice), stake president's counselor, bishop, full-time missionary in Germany.

Employment: President of BYU-Idaho (1997-present), former professor of management in College of Business Administration at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, director of Management Decision-Making Lab at University of Arkansas (1992-1997), associate dean for graduate studies in College of Business Administration at Arkansas (1987-1992), assistant professor of management at Texas Tech University (1984-1986), assistant professor of management at University of Arkansas (1980-1984).

Education: Doctorate in organizational behavior from Purdue University (1980), master's degree in organizational communication from BYU (1977), bachelor's degree in communication from BYU (1976).
