General Conference Sunday morning session: Elder David A. Bednar

Quorum of the Twelve

"My heart is filled to overflowing, my mind is spinning and my knees are weak and wobbly."

"In the hours since President Hinckley extended this call (as an apostle) like Nephi, I have "likened all scriptures unto us." Paul wrote, "God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise."

"I take great comfort in knowing I am truly one of the "weak things of the world.'"

God shows weaknesses to his children and it is by his grace that they can do and overcome all things.

The Bible dictionary states "grace is an enabling power that allows us to lay hold on eternal life and exaltation." The enabling aspect of the atonement helps us to see and become good in ways we never could attain otherwise with our limited mortal capacity.

"That enabling power of the atonement is real, and without it, I couldn't stand before you this morning."

The Lord commanded the prophet Enoch, "Go forth and do as I have commanded . . . open thy mouth and it shall be filled."

"For all who feel unprepared and overwhelmed and unequal to a new responsibility, the promise of the Lord to Enoch is equally applicable."

Administrators at BYU-Idaho have been inspired as they oversee the transition to a four-year university.

"We who have served at BYU-Idaho testify that there has been help from heaven. Miracles have occurred, revelation has been received, and doors have been opened. We have been greatly blessed as individuals and as an institution."
