New temple president

Robert Savage Gabbitas, 67, of the East Hills Ward, Bakersfield California East Stake, called as president of the Guadalajara Mexico Temple, succeeding President Emilio Garcia Lopez. President Gabbitas' wife, Kathleen Crook Gabbitas, will serve as temple matron. President Gabbitas served as president of the Ecuador Guayaquil South Mission, stake president's counselor, temple ordinance worker, early morning seminary teacher and bishop. He is a retired Spanish teacher in the Kern County schools. He was born in Bakersfield, Calif., to George William and Barbara Savage Gabbitas.

Sister Gabbitas served with her husband when he was a mission president, is a former temple ordinance worker, and ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president. She was born in Lyman, Wyo., to Reno G. and Leola Madsen Crook.
