Converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should accept the challenge to share the gospel with members of their families.
"In his loving kindness, (the Savior) knew you would have a desire to be bound forever to your parents and their parents . . . The plan to make that possible has been in place from the beginning." Promises made in the Bible that the hearts of the generations would be turned to each other still hold true. The Old Testament prophet Elijah has come in this day to restore ancient sealing powers uniting families eternally.
"As you came into the church, you have felt your heart being turned toward family, both those who are living and those who are in the spirit world." Converts should find the names of ancestors and vicariously perform the ordinances necessary to unite families eternally.
"Many of your deceased ancestors will have received a testimony that the message of the missionaries (who preach beyond the veil) is true. When you received that testimony, you could ask the missionaries for baptism. But those who are in the spirit world cannot . . . Someone in this world must go to a holy temple and accept the covenants on behalf of that person in the spirit world. That is why we are under obligation to find the names of our ancestors and assure that they are offered by us what they cannot receive there without our help."
Help is available to converts who want to begin such work.
