Author wins national book award

CALGARY, Alberta — A book by Martine Leavitt was a finalist for the 2006 National Book Award in the Young People's Literature category. The award is one of the highest literary honors in North America. Sister Leavitt's book, Keturah and Lord Death, was one of five selected in the category by the National Book Foundation.

A member of the High River Ward, Calgary Alberta Foothills Stake, she has written six other books and won several awards.
