Elder Gary J. Coleman

Quorums of the Seventy

Born and reared in a non-LDS faith, then converted to the restored gospel, "I learned truths that I had not known before that changed my life and how I viewed the gospel. After much studying, prayer and faith, I chose to embrace beautiful restored truths found only in this church."

The first restored truth involved the reality of the Godhead as three separate beings. This truth disputed the traditional Christian belief of the Godhead as three persons in one God. Joseph Smith's description of his vision in which the Father and Son appeared as separate entities was "a stunning awakening for me."

The second restored truth was that of "additional scripture and revelation." The Book of Mormon is "a sacred record written by prophets of God to persuade all people to come unto Christ, and it helps to reveal the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness."

The restoration of priesthood authority was another discovery. "Men now possess the keys to establish the church so that we can come unto Christ and partake of his eternal ordinances of salvation."

Latter-day Saints are also Christians. "I am a devout Christian who is exceedingly fortunate to have greater knowledge and blessings since my conversion to the restored church."
