| 2007 Area leadership |
Changes in area presidencies have been announced by the First Presidency. The changes will be effective Aug. 1.
In addition, areas were consolidated in Mexico and Brazil. The Mexico North and Mexico South areas were combined into the Mexico Area, and the Brazil North and Brazil South areas were combined into the Brazil Area. Headquarters for both countries will be in the former south area headquarter cities.
Responsibilities for the areas in North America are reflected in the changes in the Presidency of the Seventy.
The Church now has 18 areas outside North America, and 11 areas inside North America for a total of 29.
Area Seventies continue to serve as counselors in some area presidencies.
