New temple presidents

The following have been called to serve as temple presidents and matrons. They will begin their service about Nov. 1. They have been called to a three-year term of service.

Kimball Dean Black, 68, Lilburn Ward, Lilburn Georgia Stake; Atlanta Georgia Temple, succeeding President Jim David Echard. President Black's wife, Beth Anne Grimstad Black, will serve as temple matron. A counselor in the Atlanta Georgia Temple presidency, he served as the North America Southeast Area executive secretary, Philippines Angeles Mission president, Georgia Atlanta Mission presidency, sealer and bishop. Retired director of LDS Family Services. Born in Santa Maria, Calif., to Kimball Morely Chase and Caroline Nielson Black.

Sister Black, an assistant to the matron at the Atlanta Georgia Temple, served with her husband when he was a mission president and is a former ward Young Women and Primary president, Primary music leader, ward organist and Relief Society teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ezra Carling and Shirley Anne Haile Grimstad.

Val Rigby Christensen, 71, Stone Creek Ward, Bountiful Utah Stone Creek Stake; Rexburg Idaho Temple (under construction). President Christensen's wife, Ruth Ann Wood Christensen, will serve as temple matron. A sealer at the Bountiful Utah Temple, he has served as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, Arizona Phoenix Mission president, regional representative, stake president and counselor, and bishop. Retired Vice President of Student Services, Utah State University. Born in Hooper, Utah, to Leonard and Jennie Lowe Rigby Christensen.

Sister Christensen, an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple, served with her husband as he presided over a mission and is a former ward Relief Society president, counselor in stake and ward Relief Society presidencies, and family history consultant. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Melvin Grace and Lavora Smith Wood.

Donald Gordon Harris, 73, West Hills Ward, Beaverton Oregon Stake; Santo Domingo Dominican Republic Temple, succeeding President Edward Harry Petersen. President Harris's wife, Diane Campbell Harris, will serve as temple matron. Currently a patriarch, sealer and ordinance worker in the Portland Oregon Temple, he is a former counselor in the Portland Oregon Temple presidency, bishop, and high councilor. Retired advertising agency CEO. Born in Los Angeles, Calif., to John Griffith and Jennie Margaret Reinholtsen Harris.

Sister Harris, temple ordinance worker in the Portland Oregon Temple, is a former assistant to a temple matron, ward Primary president, ward Relief Society and Young Women counselor and teacher. Born in Los Angeles, Calif., to James LeLand and Eva Lavina LeCheminant Campbell.

Paul Tekatene McAndrew, 68, Gisborne 3rd Ward, Gisborne New Zealand Stake; Hamilton New Zealand Temple, succeeding President James Anthony Morley. President McAndrew's wife, Margaret Rose Whaanga McAndrew, will serve as temple matron. A temple missionary at the Hamilton New Zealand Temple, he is a former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and ward Young Men president. Retired tutor, Tairawhiti Polytechnic Institute, Gisborne, New Zealand. Born in Wairoa, New Zealand, to Joseph and Pearse Maude McAndrew.

Sister McAndrew, a temple missionary, is a former stake and ward Relief Society president and counselor and ward librarian. Born in Wairoa, New Zealand, to Tureia Ratau and Mereaira Horomona Whaanga.

Noel Golden Stoker, 69, Mountain View Ward, Fresno California Stake; Fresno California Temple, succeeding President Charles Allen Kropf. President Stoker's wife, Carol Ralphs Stoker, will serve as temple matron. A temple ordinance worker in the Fresno California Temple and high priests group leader, he is a former New York New York North Mission president, counselor in the California Fresno Mission presidency, bishop, and ward Young Men president. Oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Born in Cedar City, Utah, to Golden Lyman and Armenia Willey Stoker.

Sister Stoker, a gospel doctrine teacher, served with her husband as he presided over a mission and is a former ward Relief Society president and counselor, ward Young Women president, and seminary teacher. Born in Ferron, Utah, to LaVerd and Eldona Black Ralphs.

Ernest Elwood Taylor Sr., 74, Crescent Valley Ward, Gig Harbor Washington Stake; Ciudad Juarez Mexico Temple, succeeding President Ashton Harvey Taylor. President Taylor's wife, Barbara Jean Decker Taylor, will serve as temple matron. A sealer in the Seattle Washington Temple and high priests group leader; he is a former Chile Vina del Mar Mission president, counselor in the Villahermosa Mexico Temple presidency, sealer, and branch president's counselor. Self-employed insurance agent. Born in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Loren LeRoy and Lillian Hatch Taylor.

Sister Taylor, a temple ordinance worker in the Seattle Washington Temple, served with her husband as he presided over a mission, former assistant to the matron at the Villahermosa Mexico Temple, ward Relief Society counselor and teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leslie Robert and Norma Howick Decker.
