Family: Born Feb. 4, 1961, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, to Moacir and Ivone Poersch Godoy. Married Monica Soares Brandao in the Sao Paulo Brazil Temple on March 31, 1984. Parents of four children: Renata, David, Gabriela and Lucas.

Education: Bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Pontificia Universidade Catolica; master's degree in organizational behavior from BYU.

Employment: Sales manager for Johnson & Johnson; human resources manager for Otis Elevators; human resources manager for Dow Corning Co.; director at Sachs Automotive; business consultant in organizational change management.

Military service: One year in Brazilian army as a tank gunner.

Church service: Area Seventy in Brazil Area; president of Brazil Belem Mission, 1997-2000; bishop; high councilor; elders quorum president; Young Men president; region welfare agent; branch president at Brazil Missionary Training Center; full-time missionary in Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission, 1981-83.
