Family: Born Feb. 24, 1961, in Vila Real, Portugal, to Fernando and Benilde Teixeira. Married Maria Filomena Lopes Teles Grilo June 5, 1984, in the Swiss Temple. Parents of three children: Miguel, Joao and Ana.
Education: Attended IAT Technical Improvement Institute in Lisbon, Portugal, and studied accounting and commerce at Jaime Cortesao Technical School in Lisbon.
Military service: Served as secretary to the commander of the Portuguese support unit at CINCIBERLANT (Commander-in-Chief Iberian Atlantic Area of NATO).
Employment: Area finance manager and later international controller for the Church in Europe and Africa.
Church service: President of Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission, 2005-2008; Area Seventy for nine years in Portugal; stake president and counselor; counselor in bishopric; district president; high priest group leader; missionary in Portugal Lisbon Mission, 1980-82.
