Elder Donald L. Hallstrom was serving in the First Quorum of Seventy when he was called to the Presidency of the Seventy. He was named a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 1, 2000. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he was serving as an Area Seventy in the North America West Area. He has served in the Asia North and North America Central area presidencies, as a counselor in the Young Men General Presidency, assistant executive director of the Family and Church History Department and executive director of the Audiovisual Department. He was serving as a counselor in the Asia Area Presidency at the time of his call to the Presidency of the Seventy.
Elder Hallstrom graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor of arts degree in economics. He was president of The Hallstrom Group, Inc., a real estate consulting and appraisal organization based in Honolulu, Hawaii. He has held various professional designations and also was an expert witness in state and federal courts.
Elder Hallstrom served on various boards, including the executive board of the Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the President's Roundtable of Brigham Young University-Hawaii. He was vice chairman of Hawaii Reserves Inc., which manages non-ecclesiastical Church real estate in Hawaii. He also has served on the National Advisory Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
His Church service includes positions as a full-time missionary in the England Central Mission, elders quorum president, high councilor, bishop, stake president and regional representative.
Donald Larry Hallstrom was born in Honolulu on July 27, 1949. He and his wife, Diane Clifton Hallstrom, are the parents of four children and have two grandchildren.
