FAMILY: Born Dec. 4, 1946, in Salt Lake City to Wesley Trenton and Iva Russell Osguthorpe. Married Lola Sedgwick Aug. 7, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. Five children: Russell Joel (Mary), Richard Douglas (Gwen), Aaron Grant (Stephanie), Emily (Thomas) Moore, Lisa (Sam) Badter; 17 grandchildren.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in psychology, master's degree in school psychology, doctorate in instructional psychology, all from BYU.
MILITARY: Captain and chaplain in Signal Corps of Army Reserve while living in Rochester, N.Y.
CAREER: Taught at National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York for four years; then joined the faculty at BYU where he is professor of instructional psychology and technology and director of the Center for Teaching and Learning.
CHURCH SERVICE: Most recently Area Seventy; president of South Dakota Rapid City Mission, 2003-2006; former president of a BYU married-student stake, bishop's counselor, branch president at Provo Missionary Training Center, stake Young Men president, Scoutmaster, teacher of youth class in Sunday School; former member of Mormon Tabernacle Choir; full-time missionary in Tahiti, 1966-68.
