Deseret Book Company has officially announced the new biography of Church President Thomas S. Monson.
Sheri Dew, president and CEO of Deseret Book, unveiled the cover of To the Rescue: The Biography of Thomas S. Monson to booksellers at the annual LDS Booksellers Association conference at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy, Utah, on Aug. 5.
"For more than 140 years, Deseret Book has published many extraordinary books, but few things rise to the level of the biography of a prophet, particularly a living prophet," Sister Dew said. "We are honored to publish this biography at this time, the story of a remarkable man, and the leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints."
The biography will go on sale Sept. 27.
The 608-page book includes dozens of photos spanning President Monson's lifetime of service.
Heidi S. Swinton, who wrote the biography, is an award-winning author and screenwriter whose works include PBS documentaries "American Prophet"; "Sacred Stone"; "Sweetwater Rescue"; "Trail of Hope"; and "America's Choir". She graduated from the University of Utah and attended Northwestern University's Graduate School of Journalism.
