‘Busy Mum’ Mireille Ryan’s passion for women’s health and fitness was recognized at the recent Australian Health & Fitness Industry’s annual award ceremony in Melbourne. Mireille, with her husband Shannon, attended the award dinner to receive the ‘Queensland Exercise Professional of the Year’ award. Against strong industry competition, she was excited to also be named the overall winner for Australia. The award was presented to Mireille by former Olympic swimmer Hayley Lewis.
Concern for women’s health was a motivating factor in Mireille’s involvement in the industry. Working as a certified fitness trainer in her bootcamp programs for women on the Gold Coast, this mother of three young children recognized the need for busy mums to have easy and ready access to exercise and health information. Her vision eventuated in the development of the free internet website ‘Busy Mums Fitness Club’ with co-founder Sherah Reeves, also from Mudgeeraba Ward. The site incorporates exercise videos and information from health professionals on diet, nutrition, mental health, motivation, organization skills and other related fields.
“Sherah and I are thrilled to be recognized for all the hard work we have done. Our passion is to help mums take control of their health and fitness and then encourage them to be the driving force for the health and fitness of their families.
We were able to help judge a transformation challenge held by Coomera Ward the other week and the members had worked so hard to improve their health and reduce their weight. What a great example all of them were to their families and the community.”
