New temple presidents

Five new temple presidents have been called by the First Presidency with their wives called to serve as matrons.

Norris Alvin Baldwin Sr., 73, Taylor 6th Ward, Taylor Arizona Stake, called as president of the Snowflake Arizona Temple, succeeding President Lewis N. Tenney. President Baldwin's wife, Fawnette Black Baldwin, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a ward mission leader and as a temple ordinance worker in the Snowflake Arizona Temple. He has served as a stake president, stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, and senior couple missionary. A retired certified public accountant, he was born in Taylor, Arizona, to Perry Alvin and Jessie Ruth Shumway Baldwin.

Sister Baldwin serves as a Gospel Doctrine teacher and as a temple ordinance worker in the Snowflake Arizona Temple. She previously served with her husband as a senior couple missionary, and has also served as a ward Relief Society president and counselor. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elmo Culbert and Wrena Rosalie Dunsmoor Black.

Nolan G Draney, 76, Alicia Park Ward, Mission Viejo California Stake, called as president of the Newport Beach California Temple, succeeding President D. Thomas Borgquist. President Draney's wife, Joyce N. Draney, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a Gospel Doctrine teacher and temple ordinance worker in the Newport Beach California Temple. He has served as stake president, high councilor and bishop. Retired president and CEO of the Saddleback Memorial Foundation, he was born in Afton, Wyoming, to Elno Foss and Laura Grace Gardner Draney.

Sister Draney serves as a visiting teaching coordinator and as a temple ordinance worker in the Newport Beach California Temple. She has previously served as a stake Relief Society president's counselor and ward Relief Society president. She was born in Afton, Wyoming, to Lemuel Dee and Ellen Phonanda (Fawn) Nelson Nield.

John White Hardy, 70, Rock Canyon Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont Stake, called as president of the new Kansas City Missouri Temple. President Hardy's wife, Nancy Hatch Savage Hardy, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a ward mission leader and as an ordinance worker in the Provo Utah Temple. He previously served as president of the Canada Toronto Mission, and as a stake president's counselor, bishop, and in a Missionary Training Center branch presidency. A professor emeritus of accounting at Brigham Young University and former chief financial officer of U.S. Synthetic Corporation, he was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Wallace Laird and Erma White Hardy.

Sister Hardy serves as a temple preparation teacher. She previously served with her husband as he presided over the Canada Toronto Mission. She has also served as a Young Women General Board member, stake and ward Relief Society president, and ward Young Women president. She was born in National City, California, to Henry Carlyle and Marjorie Hatch Savage.

Gerald Arthur Mead, 69, Highland 1st Ward, Pocatello Idaho Highland Stake, called as president of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, succeeding President Larry G. Stoddard. President Mead's wife, Karen Christensen Mead, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a counselor in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple presidency and has served as an Area Authority, stake president, stake president's counselor, high councilor, stake mission president and bishop. A retired vice president of research and new business development with J. R. Simplot, he was born in Afton, Wyoming, to Arthur Albert and Elizabeth Yarwood Mead.

Sister Mead serves as an assistant to the matron of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. She has served as a ward Young Women president, ward Primary president's counselor, and teacher. She was born in Wendell, Idaho, to Ronald Charley and Ina Sophia Kassens Christensen.

Lamont Willis Moon, 70, Bridgeland Ward, Duschesne Utah Stake, called as president of the Vernal Utah Temple, succeeding President Mac W. Holmes. President Moon's wife, Gay Gillette Moon, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a ward mission leader, temple preparation teacher, and sealer in the Vernal Utah Temple. He previously served as an Area Seventy, president of the Japan Tokyo North Mission, stake president, bishop and temple ordinance worker. A rancher, he was born in Roosevelt, Utah, to James Willis and Pearl Foster Moon.

Sister Moon serves as a Relief Society chorister. She has served with her husband as he presided over the Japan Tokyo North Mission and as a temple ordinance worker. She has also served as a ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women president's counselor, and ward Primary president's counselor. She was born in Tooele, Utah, to John Hardy and Hilma June Bryan Gillette.
